1. EACL: give language models a language-specific test
EACL 2027 takes place on 9–14 March, with Megaron named as its conference venue. The European Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics brings researchers and practitioners together around computational approaches to natural language.
This is where I would start for NLP research, multilingual evaluation or language technology. If your Greek-language application struggles with ambiguous wording or domain terminology, bring examples and ask which evaluation methods capture those failures.
Students should examine the Student Research Workshop call, which includes research papers and thesis proposals, with a direct submission deadline of 15 December 2026. Choose the participation route around your contribution; attending, presenting and receiving mentorship have different requirements.
2. HAICAI: examine the handover between a person and an AI system
The HAICAI 2027 call for papers lists 15–16 April and the University of West Attica in Athens. Its topics include shared autonomy, human oversight, trust calibration and methods for evaluating collaboration.
I would shortlist it for HCI researchers, product teams and engineers designing systems that people must supervise. Bring a workflow showing when the system proposes an action, when someone reviews it and what happens if they disagree.
For agent-specific technical alternatives, my agentic AI events guide compares engineering and enterprise formats outside Greece. For HAICAI, confirm the campus, attendance mode and registration conditions before booking.
3. InfraAI: follow the power supply and the investment decision
InfraAI Global Summit runs on 19–21 April at Asteria Domus in Glyfada, on the Athens Riviera. Its audience centres on investors, infrastructure operators, energy providers, technology companies and policymakers.
I would consider it for someone deciding how AI capacity gets financed, powered or delivered. A data-centre developer can investigate energy and infrastructure constraints; a policy team can compare the practical requirements behind a compute strategy.
The published schedule starts with an opening reception on 19 April, followed by the main programme on 20–21 April. Review the current pass and meeting arrangements against your objective; the speaker examples on the site are explicitly from previous editions.
4. CEPE: give a disputed AI decision a proper hearing
CEPE 2027 takes place on 26–28 May at UNIC Athens in Elliniko. Its Ethics and Artificial Intelligence theme spans algorithmic bias, accountability, deepfakes, copyright and AI’s relationship with democracy.
I would prioritise it for interdisciplinary researchers and governance professionals who need to examine why an AI decision should be accepted or challenged. Bring a case with competing interests and ask whose perspective your evaluation leaves out.
Compare it with HAICAI through the question you need answered. HAICAI gives you a starting point for investigating how people and systems cooperate; CEPE offers a philosophical and interdisciplinary setting for examining responsibility, power and the consequences of that cooperation.
Pro Tip: put the first deadline beside the conference date
A 2027 conference can require your decision in 2026. EACL’s Student Research Workshop lists direct submissions for 15 December 2026, while RSS begins its staged submission process with extended abstracts due on 4 December 2026; check the relevant call before planning a contribution.
5. LMDE: ask what changes in the organisation
Leading and Managing in the Digital Era holds its Athens main conference on 18–19 June at Wyndham Grand Athens. Its 2027 theme concerns organisations, work and human judgment in the age of AI, bringing management research into conversation with business leadership.
I would examine it for a manager changing responsibilities around an AI-assisted process. A faster first draft may still create more review work, so ask who gains time, who absorbs the exceptions and what happens to the decision-making role.
This differs from InfraAI’s focus on the physical and financial foundations of AI capacity. Also keep the geography clear: LMDE’s follow-up research colloquium and Doctoral Consortium are planned for 20–22 June on Syros, requiring a separate journey from Athens.
6. Robotics: Science and Systems: when the model has to act
Robotics: Science and Systems brings its 2027 conference to Athens on 6–11 July. Its research format includes single-track presentations, workshops, posters and tutorials across robotics.
For robot-learning and embodied-AI researchers, this is my focused alternative to a general AI meeting. Bring a case where the method changes performance outside its original conditions, then investigate whether the limitation comes from perception, control, the task or the surrounding system.
The venue page lists Megaron and Harokopio University facilities, including Kallithea and Tavros locations. Check where your activities take place, and read the staged submission rules before treating April’s final-paper deadline as an open starting point.
7. ECAI: take a precise question into a broader AI community
ECAI 2027 runs on 2–7 October. Workshops, tutorials and the Doctoral Consortium are planned for 2–3 October at NKUA’s School of Science, followed by the main conference at Megaron on 4–7 October.
I would start here when your research needs scrutiny beyond one specialist community. An NLP researcher should compare it with EACL: EACL concentrates language expertise, while ECAI offers broader AI exchange and an applications programme through PAIS.
A doctoral student should identify the relevant workshop or consortium route before choosing travel dates. An industry researcher can investigate the application-focused programme, then confirm the calls, admission and activities available to their role.
8. AICOMAS: make the model answer to engineering evidence
AICOMAS 2027 takes place on 9–12 November at the Royal Olympic Hotel. This ECCOMAS thematic conference connects artificial intelligence with computational methods in applied science.
Its published topics include physics-based machine learning, surrogate modelling, digital twins, robustness and industrial applications. I would shortlist it for computational scientists and engineers whose model must remain useful under physical constraints.
An engineering team could bring a surrogate that performs well inside its training range and examine how it behaves elsewhere. Compare AICOMAS with RSS through the system you study: computational and engineering models here, with a robotics-centred community at RSS.
Plan the venue, participation route and budget together
Megaron, Glyfada, Elliniko and the university locations need separate journey planning. Use each organiser’s address alongside OASA’s official transport information, and allow time for the final transfer and evening activities.
For funding, EACL publishes DEI subsidy information with applications due on 10 January 2027 and travel reimbursement after attendance. My AI conference funding guide helps you compare that payment timing with the costs you must cover first.
If none of these communities matches your work, widen the comparison with my European AI events guide. A local event still needs a relevant audience and a useful reason for you to participate.
Where I would send you first
For a PhD in language technology, I would investigate EACL and its student activities; for robotics, RSS. Researchers seeking a broader AI community should examine ECAI, while computational scientists and engineering researchers should prioritise AICOMAS’s relevant tracks.
For product and HCI teams, HAICAI is the collaboration-focused choice. I would send an infrastructure or energy leader to InfraAI, a management researcher or organisational leader to LMDE, and an AI ethics or policy researcher to CEPE.
Visiting digital-humanities researchers can also examine the CLARIN:EL Summer School on 14–18 June, a separate training option with selected funded places. Its published scheme excludes applicants living in Greece and lists a 30 November 2026 application deadline; check the full eligibility rules before applying.
Pro Tip: give the conversation something you can both examine
Take a small piece of work: an evaluation example, an operating constraint or a diagram of a human review process. My AI networking events guide offers ways to turn that shared subject into a specific follow-up.
