A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR RESEARCHERS, ENGINEERS AND BUSINESS LEADERS
Vienna has eight AI-related events on my 2027 calendar, but that does not give you eight interchangeable reasons to travel. A data engineer, a tax lawyer and a factory automation buyer could all attend an AI event in the city and still need completely different rooms.
I would choose by the decision you need to improve. Vienna is strongest when you use its specialist events deliberately: data practice in January, agentic AI and governance in February, technical research in July, and industrial automation in September.
Not every listing deserves equal confidence. Some events already show a clear organiser, venue and professional community; two broader international conferences require more checking before you submit a paper or pay a fee. I have made that distinction visible rather than turning the article into an uncritical calendar.
Vienna's 2027 AI events compared
| Event | Best for | Primary value | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Data Community Austria Day | Data engineers, analysts and data scientists | Practical community exchange | Broader data event, not a pure AI conference |
| JETZT Agentic AI | Marketing, advertising and automation leaders | Agent workflows and business use cases | German-language and sector-focused |
| WU Tax Law Technology Conference | Tax, legal, compliance and governance specialists | Serious domain discussion of agents | Too specialised for general AI discovery |
| Artificial Companionship | Ethics, media and human-AI interaction researchers | Agency, trust and public communication | Conceptual rather than engineering-led; German-language |
| AIACI-27 | Researchers seeking a broad presentation forum | Multiple presentation formats | Check venue, fees and publication route carefully |
| ICNGAIT-2027 | Researchers exploring broad next-generation AI topics | General AI and machine-learning scope | Verify venue, programme and committee before committing |
| AIRoV 2027 | AI, robotics and computer-vision researchers | Focused technical community and cross-field exchange | Narrower commercial value for non-technical attendees |
| Robotics & Automation Day Austria | Factory, logistics and automation decision-makers | Curated supplier and buyer meetings | Application-led, invitation-based and German-language |

1. Data Community Austria Day 2027: strengthen the data layer
18 JANUARY 2027 | JUFA HOTEL WIEN | IN PERSON
Data Community Austria Day brings practitioners together across analytics, engineering, data science and machine learning. I would send data engineers and ML platform teams with one bottleneck—lineage, quality, deployment or observability. Compared with AIRoV, you trade research depth for practical data conversations; that is a good trade when unreliable data is the reason your AI project is stuck.
2. JETZT Agentic AI 2027: agents for marketing and advertising
26-27 JANUARY 2027 | SAAL DER LABSTELLE WIEN | IN PERSON
JETZT focuses on agents in marketing and advertising, making it a business-application event rather than a general engineering conference. Marketing leaders should arrive with one workflow mapped from trigger to approval and ask about data access, human review and failure handling. The conference is in German, and a polished agent demonstration without those controls is still only a demonstration.

3. WU Tax Law Technology Conference: agentic AI with consequences
15-16 FEBRUARY 2027 | WU VIENNA | IN PERSON
WU examines agentic AI in tax workflows, where a wrong output can create legal, financial and governance consequences. I would prioritise it for tax lawyers, finance transformation leaders and compliance professionals. JETZT is stronger for marketing workflows; WU is the sharper room when auditability, evidence and professional liability matter more than speed.
4. Artificial Companionship: examine the relationship, not only the model
17-19 FEBRUARY 2027 | AUSTRIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES AND UNIVERSITY OF VIENNA
This Network Media Ethics conference studies AI companionship through agency, responsibility, trust and the public sphere. It suits researchers in ethics, communication and human-AI interaction; conversational-product teams may also benefit, but should expect conceptual scrutiny rather than implementation tutorials. The working context is German-language.
PRO TIP: USE VIENNA AS A REGIONAL DECISION POINT
Do not add a second city merely because it is nearby. Compare Vienna's specialist programme with my guide to AI events in the Visegrad countries. Pair events only when they solve adjacent problems—for example, Vienna for governance or robotics and Warsaw, Prague or Budapest for a complementary technical or data conversation.

5. AIACI-27: broad research access, but read the small print
14-16 APRIL 2027 | VIENNA + ONLINE OPTIONS
AIACI-27 offers oral, poster and remote presentation routes across broad AI topics. That flexibility may suit researchers, but breadth does not prove a strong specialist audience. Before paying, verify the venue, committee, review process, total publication cost and the indexing route required by your institution; the organiser distinguishes conference proceedings from optional journal publication.
6. ICNGAIT-2027: verify the audience before booking
25-26 MAY 2027 | VIENNA | IN PERSON
ICNGAIT covers infrastructure, deep learning, generative AI and machine learning, but its broad title reveals less about the community than AIRoV's defined technical associations. Do not book from the title alone: confirm the venue, programme, committee, previous proceedings and refund terms. If the expected audience remains vague, choose a conference with a clearer community.
7. AIRoV 2027: Vienna's strongest technical AI choice
5-7 JULY 2027 | WU VIENNA | IN PERSON
AIRoV connects Austria's AI, robotics, automation and pattern-recognition communities through workshops and posters. It is my clearest technical choice for researchers and engineers: bring a method or result you want challenged. Compared with Robotics & Automation Day, AIRoV offers stronger research exchange; the September event is better for supplier evaluation and commercial meetings.

8. Robotics & Automation Day Austria: arrive with a live project
23 SEPTEMBER 2027 | VIENNA AIRPORT INNOVATION CENTER | IN PERSON
Robotics & Automation Day is built for production and logistics, combining cobots, mobile robots, AI and vision with curated matchmaking. Factory leaders should arrive with a defined project stage and buying question. Researchers seeking peer review should choose AIRoV; RAD is better for comparing suppliers and partners across Austria and Central and Eastern Europe. Attendance is selective and the main context is German-language.
PRO TIP: PRICE THE DECISION, NOT JUST THE TICKET
A free pass can still produce an expensive trip, while a focused paid event can be economical if it resolves a technical or buying decision. Use my guide to AI conference funding for 2027 to calculate registration, travel, accommodation, reimbursement timing and the unfunded gap before you ask an employer or university to support the trip.

Which Vienna AI event would I choose for you?
Data engineers and analytics professionals should start with Data Community Austria Day. Marketing and advertising leaders should choose JETZT, while tax, legal and compliance specialists will find the sharper governance discussion at WU.
For researchers, AIRoV is my strongest technical recommendation, particularly for robotics, vision and pattern recognition. Artificial Companionship is the better intellectual fit for media ethics and human-AI interaction; AIACI and ICNGAIT should remain conditional choices until their practical and academic details satisfy your due-diligence test.
Industrial buyers should favour Robotics & Automation Day and compare it with my Munich AI events guide. Munich gives you a larger robotics and manufacturing ecosystem; Vienna offers a more curated route into Austrian and Central European decision-makers.
If none of these specialist rooms matches your goal, widen the comparison with my guide to the top AI events in Europe for 2027. A larger event is not automatically better, but a clearer audience is.
Did you not find the event you were looking for?
Search by the decision you need to make: improve a data platform, govern an agent, test a research idea or evaluate an automation supplier. Before booking, confirm the latest programme, venue, language, admission rules and cancellation terms with the organiser.
